Interactive dashboards for higher-level analytics — a paid add-on to your Continu instance.
Continu Insights is a paid add-on that provides interactive dashboards for higher-level analytics on top of your Continu data. It complements the standard Reports area by giving you exploratory dashboards instead of CSV exports — useful when you need to investigate patterns, share a live view with stakeholders, or drill into a specific data point without building a report from scratch.
If you're not sure whether Insights is enabled on your instance, or you want to add it, talk to your CSM.
Insights vs Reports vs Report Builder
Continu gives you three ways to get learning data out. Pick the right one for the job:
| Tool | Use when | Output |
|---|---|---|
| Insights | You want to explore patterns interactively, share a dashboard with stakeholders, or drill from a high-level number into the specific learners behind it. | Interactive dashboard with filters and drill-downs |
| Standard Reports | You need a per-row CSV for compliance, audits, or hand-off to another system. The question you're answering is well-defined. | CSV export |
| Report Builder | You need a custom per-row CSV that the standard reports don't cover. You know which fields and filters you need. | Custom CSV export |
A rough rule: Insights for exploring, Reports for exporting.
How to Enable Insights
Insights is a paid add-on. To enable it on your instance, talk to your CSM — they'll handle the contract step and turn it on for your account. Once enabled, Insights appears in the admin navigation alongside Reports.
Who Has Access
Insights access is controlled at the role level — admins have access by default, and the access can be extended to other roles as part of your instance configuration. Talk to your CSM if you want to grant access to specific manager or analyst roles.
What You Get
Insights ships with pre-built dashboards covering the most common learning analytics questions:
- Learning effectiveness — completion rates, time-to-complete, and pass rates across content and audiences.
- Engagement patterns — who's logging in, what content is getting consumed, and where engagement drops off.
- Completion trends — completion velocity over time, broken out by team, department, or content type.
- Workshop and Track performance — live and structured learning programs with attendance, completion, and follow-through.
Each dashboard supports filters (by date range, team, role, content type) and drill-down — click any number or chart element to see the learners or records that make it up.
Getting Started in Insights
When you open Insights for the first time, you'll see the dashboard home with the pre-built dashboards listed. To get oriented:
- Open the Learning Effectiveness dashboard — it's the broadest view and gives you a sense of how Insights presents data.
- Apply a filter. Try filtering by date range or team. The dashboard updates live; no re-querying required.
- Drill into a number. Click on any chart element to see the underlying learners or records.
- Build a personal dashboard. Once you know what questions you ask repeatedly, save your filter setup as a personal dashboard you can return to.

How the Data Works
Data source. Insights pulls from your Continu instance — the same underlying data that powers Reports. There's no separate sync to configure.
Refresh frequency. Insights data refreshes on a regular cadence. For the current refresh interval on your instance, check with your CSM — refresh timing can vary by account configuration.
Historical data. Insights includes the same historical data as your Continu instance has retained. If you've been on Continu for two years, Insights has two years of data to draw on.
Exports. You can export the data behind any dashboard chart to CSV if you need to take it elsewhere. For compliance-grade per-row exports, the standard Reports area is still the better fit.
Considerations
Insights is for exploration; Reports is for evidence. When you need to answer "what's the pattern here," Insights gets there faster. When you need to produce a record for an audit, build a Report.
Filter discipline. A dashboard with the wrong filter applied looks just as confident as one with the right filter. When you share a dashboard view with a stakeholder, double-check the filter state — or save it as a personal dashboard with the filters baked in.
Drill-down is the differentiator. The thing Reports can't do is let you click a number and see the people. If you find yourself running a CSV just to find out "who are the 47 incomplete learners," that's a drill-down case — use Insights instead.
FAQ
Is Insights included in standard Continu?
No — it's a paid add-on. Talk to your CSM to enable it.
Can I build my own dashboards from scratch?
Yes, you can build personal dashboards on top of the data Insights surfaces. For more advanced custom dashboards, talk to your CSM about what's possible at your tier.
Does Insights replace Reports?
No. The two complement each other. Insights is for exploring and sharing live views; Reports is for per-row CSV outputs (compliance, audits, downstream system imports).
Can I share a dashboard with a non-admin?
Sharing capability depends on your access configuration. Check with your CSM if you need to share dashboards with managers or other roles that don't currently have Insights access.
Where does the data come from?
Your Continu instance. No external data source needed.
Can I view Insights on mobile?
Insights is designed for desktop viewing — the dashboards are dense enough that a desktop display is recommended.
Where This Fits
You're here because you want higher-level interactive analytics on your Continu data. For per-row CSV reports, see Admin Reports in Continu or build a custom report with Report Builder in Continu.
