Continu Insights is the interactive dashboard tool. Use it to explore patterns, share a live view with stakeholders, or drill from a number down to the people behind it.

Not sure whether Insights is the right tool for the question you're trying to answer? Start with Insights & Reports: Which Tool Should I Use? — Insights is best when you want interactivity, drill-down, or a live view. For per-row CSVs and audit trails, use Admin Reports instead.

What ships out of the box

Pre-built dashboards cover the questions most organizations are already asking:

  • User engagement tracking — sign-ins and activity over time.
  • Assignment snapshots — what's outstanding and what's on track right now.
  • Content audits — what exists, what's stale, what's getting used. Example: the Learning Effectiveness dashboard, an interactive view of content engagement data.
  • Completion rates across the organization — rolled up above any single program. Example: the Completion trends dashboard, for month-over-month movement.
  • Activity trends — usage patterns over weeks and months. Example: the Engagement patterns dashboard, for drilling into where learners drop off.
  • Workshop registrations — sign-ups and attendance for scheduled sessions.
  • Leaderboards — ranked views for recognition and friendly competition.

Insights Core vs. Insights Pro

Tier Availability What's included
Insights Core Standard with Enterprise The pre-built dashboards above, with filtering and metric adjustment — but you can't change the underlying structure.
Insights Pro Paid add-on Everything in Core, plus custom dashboard creation and Continu AI — ask plain-language questions about your data and pin the answers to a dashboard.

Gotcha worth knowing. Insights includes all users and content by default — including suspended users and archived content. If a number looks too high, check whether that's why. Add a filter to exclude suspended users or archived content when you want current, active-only views.

Three decisions before you build a custom dashboard

Insights Pro lets you build custom dashboards. Before you start:

  • Audience. One dashboard per distinct group — executives, managers, program owners — not one dashboard trying to serve everyone.
  • Metrics. Pick 3–6 KPIs that actually answer the dashboard's question, not everything the data supports.
  • Narrative. Frame the dashboard around a specific business question rather than a wall of charts.

Two ways to start the build itself:

  • Start from an existing dashboard (recommended). Open a pre-built or previously customized dashboard, duplicate it, remove its filters, then add back only what this new audience actually needs.
  • Build from scratch. Click Search Data to explore the available datasets and construct visualizations manually.

What you can configure

  • Data sources: User engagement, content engagement, workshops, custom data sources.
  • Visualization types: Tables, charts, leaderboards.
  • Filters: Department, location, date range, assigned vs. discovered content. Set at the dashboard level (applies to every visualization) or at the visualization level (applies to just one).
  • Layout: Drag visualizations to reorder, resize via a corner handle or a five-size preset menu, and group related visualizations into tabs.
