Edit the Layout of a Dashboard in Continu Insights

To change how a dashboard looks, open it and select Edit at the upper right. In edit mode you can drag visualizations into a new order, resize them, move them between tabs, or delete them. Select Save when you finish. If the Edit button is grayed out, you do not have edit access to that dashboard; contact your admin or the dashboard’s creator.

How dashboard layouts work

Visualizations on a dashboard snap into place on a flowing grid, which keeps the layout neat as you move things around. The layout also responds to your browser width: if you narrow the window or lower your resolution, a horizontal scroll bar appears at the bottom of the screen.

Reorder visualizations

  1. Open the dashboard and select Edit at the upper right.

  2. Hover over a visualization and select the bar that appears at its top.
  3. Drag the visualization to its new position.
  4. Select Save in the top menu bar.

Resize a visualization

  1. In edit mode, select the visualization you want to resize.
  2. Drag the size handle in the corner of the visualization to any custom size, or open the visualization’s Tile size menu and pick one of the five preset sizes.
  3. Select Save.

Move a visualization to another tab

If your dashboard has multiple tabs, you can move visualizations between them:

  1. In edit mode, open the More menu on the visualization.
  2. Select Move to tab. This option only appears when the dashboard has more than one tab.
  3. Choose the destination tab, select Move, then Save.

Copy a visualization

To experiment with a visualization without changing the shared dashboard, make a copy:

  1. In view mode, open the More menu at the upper right of the visualization.
  2. Select Make a copy. The copy opens with “Copy of” added to the title, and it respects any dashboard filters that were applied to the original.
  3. Make your changes, then open the More menu and select Save. Rename it and update the description as needed.

Organize with tabs

Tabs group related visualizations on one dashboard. For example, a training dashboard can have one tab of top-level KPIs for executives and a second tab of detailed charts for managers. To add a tab, select Edit, then + Add tab in the top menu.

Delete a visualization

  1. In edit mode, select the visualization and then its Delete icon.
  2. Confirm with Delete, then select Save.

Other dashboard actions

The dashboard’s More menu in view mode lets you rename the dashboard (including its description), manage schedules, download it, or make a copy of the whole dashboard. In edit mode, the dashboard’s More menu only offers delete. A visualization’s More menu in view mode lets you rename it, download it, or make a copy; in edit mode it only offers resize and delete.
