Experiencing a loop when attempting to sign in with SSO

You're stuck in a loop — signing in with SSO sends you back to the sign-in page repeatedly. Usually a clock or cookie issue.

SSO authentication relies on timestamps that match between your computer, your identity provider (Okta, Google, Microsoft 365, etc.), and Continu. If your computer's clock is wrong — even by a small amount — the authentication fails silently and you get sent back to sign in again. Browser cookies from a stale session can also cause this behavior.

How to Resolve

1. Set your computer's clock to automatic. Manual time settings drift. SSO needs your clock to match real time within a few seconds.

How to Set Time Zones on Windows: Settings → Time & Language → Date & Time → toggle Set time automatically ON.

How to Set Time Zones on macOS: System Settings → General → Date & Time → toggle Set time and time zone automatically ON.

2. Clear cookies for both your identity provider and Continu. In your browser settings, clear cookies for continu.com and for your SSO domain (Okta, Google, Microsoft, etc.).

3. Try an incognito or private window. A clean session bypasses any lingering cookie state. If incognito works, the issue is cached cookies in your normal browser.

4. Try a different browser. If incognito didn't help, a different browser confirms whether the issue is browser-specific.

If None of the Above Works

Contact your IT team or Continu admin. There may be a configuration issue on the SSO side — for example, the identity provider isn't returning the fields Continu expects. See The identity provider error when logging in for the specific configuration case.
