Picking the right Workshop type

Continu has three Workshop types: Single-Session, Varied Multi-Session, and Cohort Multi-Session. You can’t change the type after you create the Workshop, so choose it before you start building.

The three Workshop types

The type you pick decides how you set up sessions and how learners register.

Single-Session

One session that you offer on one or more dates. Examples are a masterclass, a lunch and learn, or a town hall.

  • Admins add the dates the session is offered.
  • Learners pick one date and register.

Varied Multi-Session

A series of sessions, each with its own set of date options. An example is a four-week leadership program.

  • Admins create each session and give it its own dates.
  • Learners pick a date for each session in the series, so two learners can attend the same series on different schedules.

Cohort Multi-Session

Sessions grouped into cohorts. Everyone in a cohort attends every session together, on the same dates. Examples are new hire onboarding cohorts and certification programs.

  • Admins build a schedule for each cohort, with specific dates for every session in the sequence.
  • Learners pick one cohort and are registered for the whole sequence at once.

Which type to pick

  • Single-Session — the learner only needs to attend once.
  • Varied Multi-Session — the learner needs to attend several sessions, and each person should be able to choose their own dates.
  • Cohort Multi-Session — the group matters as much as the content, and learners should go through every session with the same people.

The type is locked after creation

You choose the type on the Workshop Details step when you create a Workshop. After the Workshop is created, you can’t change its type. To switch to a different type, create a new Workshop.
