Video Coaching Assessments require microphone and webcam access. How to enable them in each major browser when they're blocked.
When you start a Video Coaching Assessment, the browser asks for permission to use your webcam and microphone. If you accidentally blocked the permission — or if your organization's browser policies blocked it automatically — you won't be able to record. The fix is enabling the permission in your browser settings.
Google Chrome
1. While on the Continu page, click the camera icon (or padlock icon) in the URL bar to the left of the address.
2. Set Camera and Microphone to Allow.
3. Reload the page.
If the icon isn't visible: Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → Camera (and Microphone). Find continu.com in the list and switch to Allow.
Mozilla Firefox
1. Click the padlock icon in the URL bar.
2. Click Connection secure → More information → Permissions tab.
3. For Use the Camera and Use the Microphone, uncheck Use Default and select Allow.
4. Reload the page.
Apple Safari
1. Open Safari preferences. Safari menu → Settings (or Preferences in older versions).
2. Click the Websites tab.
3. Select Camera in the left sidebar. Find continu.com and set to Allow.
4. Do the same for Microphone.
5. Reload the page.
Microsoft Edge
Edge uses the same approach as Chrome.
1. Click the camera icon in the URL bar.
2. Set Camera and Microphone to Allow.
3. Reload the page.
Common Causes
Permission was denied on first prompt. Most common cause. Re-enable using the steps above.
Corporate browser policy. Your IT team may have blocked camera/microphone access globally. Contact IT — they may need to allowlist Continu specifically.
Another app is using the camera. If you have Zoom, Teams, or another app actively using the camera, the browser may not be able to access it. Close the other app and try again.
Hardware issue. If permissions are correct and no other app is using the camera, the camera itself may not be working. Test it in another app (Photo Booth on Mac, Camera on Windows) to confirm.
